Portfolio v2

The site you're reading. I rebuilt my portfolio with Next.js and plain CSS, aiming for simplicity.

  • Next.js
  • React
  • TypeScript
  • CSS Modules

Overview

This is the second version of my personal website. My goal was simplicity: put my experience and projects first and keep everything else out of the way.

The first version had a starfield and a skills constellation. This one has less going on, so the writing is easier to read.

The fish in the hero is there because I started getting into fishing around the time I built it.

Goals

The rebuild needed to:

  • Keep the design simple.
  • Put experience and projects first.
  • Keep the dependency list short.

How I built it

The site uses Next.js 15 with the App Router, React 19 and TypeScript. Styling is plain CSS with CSS Modules, so there is no styling library to maintain.

I kept the runtime dependencies to seven, so there is little to keep updated.

The site is hosted on Vercel. When I push to GitHub, Vercel builds and deploys it on its own.

Diagram: my computer pushes code to GitHub, Vercel builds and deploys it automatically, and visitors open the site in a browser.

What I learned

Keeping things small helps. With seven runtime dependencies and plain CSS, there is very little to maintain.
